All round rubbish day yesterday with Lec retiring and the mighty reds coming so close.
Hamilton though was different gravy yesterday. Immaculate driving.been uncluky this season with the safety cars and yesterday with the incident.
Surely he'll beat russell this season. i think he's been better than russell just miss unlucky.

They're many, who would disagree with you there truered. Many out there prefers to taint LH 7 WDC with the "fast car" crap, while they support the bell end, whose WDC came by "human error." They say Roseberg beat LH to the title because he was better but fail to note that, although Roseberg was good but it was LH engine blowing off at Malaysia that gave Roseberg the win. The hate on LH is insane. Britain should be grateful to have LH, Russell and Norris.

Monaco on the other hand, is just a frustrating circuit and I don't know why FIA bothers with it. Overtaking is almost impossible. Was gutted for Charles LeClerc, who I think is way better to MV, for losing out on team strategy. LH and Vettel were also unlucky not to have driven on new tyres during Q3. All in all, damn boring race for me.

I am absolutely delighted that Ferrari are looking strong albeit that's just one qualifying session.

I am actually more interested in seeing what the "great" Hamilton is capable of when he doesn't have everything handed out to him on a plate, be it the fastest car, reliable car, best overall package, all the rules and regulations bent in favor of mercedes.

"Handed out to him"? I get LH polarizes opinion but I will never understand the level of HATE towards him. Shocking post

Let's try having clear and enforced rules first.

F1 over the past decade or so has become harder and harder to watch in terms of interest and excitement. For me however that will be it, it has taken what was once the most exciting and glamorous sport on Earth and turned it into WWE. I certainly have no interest in paying to watch that nonsense.

Thoughts on the race yesterday?
I thought it was good. Really good from Checo. Merc looked too fast on this track. Amateur hour from them strategy wise though.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - it was ok, but needed the conditions to alter significantly to stop everyone just holding on and waiting.}

Right lads. With Alfa seat now vacant who do we see getting it?
Money seems to be on Bottas. I would however love to see somebody from lower series to make the step up. Surely the Redbull juniors can't be going to Alfa.
Maybe they should go with Pourchaire or Zhou.
Maybe Shwartzmann.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - I think Bottas as well.}

Max got the luck today. Over the course of the season he deserves the championship. Well done to him. Well done to Ham taking it to the last race.

Guess we'll have to disagree on this mate. No way Max is doing that to brake check Ham. FIA have in multiple occasions favoured Mercs this season too. Pit stops which were not an issue for all these years have become safety issue. Flexi wing drama was started by Mercs. They got FIA to change their tests for it.
FIA does every few years try subtly disadvantage dominant teams. Ferrari have suffered it, Mclaren have suffered it and even Redbull have suffered it. So there is no surprise they are trying to disadvantage Mercs.
Ham is the poster boy of F1. He is by far the most popular and recognisable asset for f1. He probably has double the number of people rooting for him than Max or any other driver ever will. Only Schumi came close to the following of Ham.

{Ed001's Note - flexi wing drama was started by Mercs? No mate, it was started by Red Bull cheating. The pit stops became an issue because they were so quick there were incidents happening which showed people were disregarding the safety regs in place.

And if you think Max was not brake testing Hamilton, then you know nothing about him. Just like you probably think he wasn't deliberately driving into Hamilton at Brazil or on each restart. Max was happy to take both of them out rather than give up the lead, that is exactly what all those incidents were about.

As for Hamilton being the poster boy, no mate, they have hung their hat on Verstappen as the next big thing, whereas Hamilton is seen as a fading force on his way out and close to leaving the sport. But they need Max to beat him before he does so or it will leave dissatisfaction amongst the fans that he is not really that good. Bit like Vettel never made it to be the big star he could have been because he didn't take it off a dominant champion at his peak. He inherited an empty throne.}

I donr think that was intentional. They were both playing with drs zone. Max was going slow waiting for Ham to pass as instructed by team. FIA rubbish the bed in not telling Merc on time that they were being handed the place back. The person deemed guilty for silverstone also had no loss by the way
The only issue here is FIA incompetence. i'm sure they are not trying to support any driver intentionally.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - I don't agree sorry. Max would move off the racing line unless he was being a dick, which he was. You often see a driver in that position wave his hand on the side he wants the other driver to pass, as they can't communicate straight to each other. Max did nothing but slow down on a corner. A long sweeping corner, yes, but it is still blind so Hamilton had no idea what was happening and Max could have simply been slowing to avoid an obstacle on his left or a marshal there on track etc. Either Max is a complete moron or he was trying to be a dick. There are no other options.

As for the FIA, they have gone out of their way to help Max this season because of his huge following. It is worth too much to them to have him win a title. I do not believe it is incompetence that every decision goes the way of Verstappen.}

Well, clearly everyone here loves Hamilton and rightly so, drove a fantastic race yesterday. I would however say that the penalty is justified. Seb got his 2nd place taken away because of FIA not being able to extract the exact amount of fuel. So if the drs failed the test the penalty was justified for Lewis.
I agree however, max should have been penalised.
Im tired of the Mercedes dominance, I would rather Max win it, he has been incredible in most of the races. I wouldn't begrudge Hamilton the win this season though as he's been pushed to the limit.

The rain was a shame. It made it exciting, but that podium doesn't look right for the 40+ laps performance from the drivers that lost out. Lewis, Lando and Checo were brilliant today. It should have been that.
Bottas was absooutely nowhere the entire race and lucks into 5th after such a poor performance.
Hope Checo's luck changes soon. Confidence must be down with all the bad quali performances.

truered2

{Ed001's Note - I agree, particularly on Bottas, who deserved nothing again.}
